The CBC timeline starts in 1954 and moves through many changes within Australia and our business.

1954
The 1950’s brought increasing demand for an array of new components and technology.
J.J. Martin-Weber, observed the lack of available supply and service facilities to meet this demand, formed CBC Australia Pty Ltd.

1957
CBC Moved to larger premises in Leichhardt, in Sydney’s inner west.

1960
Ron Martin-Weber continued the task commenced by his father, J.J. Martin-Weber adding to the portfolio of international manufacturers and increasing CBC’s reach across Australia.

The first branch outside of NSW was opened in Adelaide with a second opening soon after in Prospect. A Victorian office opened in Maidstone and moved to a larger premises soon after in 1964.

1961
CBC moved its NSW head office operation to Drummoyne, and opened a sales office in the steel industry center of Port Kembla.

1962
CBC’s strongest and longest running partnership with NTN Corporation of Japan was formed.

1965
CBC opens our first Queensland office in South Brisbane with a Queensland head office in Albion.

1966
Rothe Erde® sole agency agreement was formed. This partnership has become pivotal to many major ventures, not least the “CSIRO Australia Telescope” and Australia’s largest offshore and tower crane manufacturer.

South Australia’s third office at Richmond was opened.

1967
A modern warehouse was built at Prospect South Australia to replace the original office and the following shortly after modernisation of the Maidstone Victoria facility was completed.

1968
Expansion into Newcastle along with new facility in Albion.

Victoria’s second sales office at Moorabbin was opened, following the construction of the new Head Office in Auburn in Sydney.

Commenced the manufacture of bearing housings and the formation of Transmission Bearing Company (TBC)

1972
Sales outlets in Vermont and Thomastown Victoria were opened

1973
Sales outlets in Marrickville and Guildford were opened, followed by operations in Perth Western Australia.

1974
A major relocation for to the new National Headquarters to a 3 acre site in Kingsgrove.

1975
The first regional outlet opened in Geelong, Victoria followed closely by Gladstone, Queensland, and Canberra.

CBC joined the technology revolution and upgraded to IBM system 32 computers from a punch-card IBM 444

1980
The National Headquarters at Kingsgrove extended to 6000m2 to house the ever expanding stock range

1988
Saw upgrades to a decentralized computer system with the installation of IBM System 36, enabling national stock holding to be visible through the expanding organisation.

1990
NSW operations moved from Auburn to a brand new purpose built 4000m2 facility at Eastern Creek in western Sydney.

1994
A complete networked computer upgrade to IBM AS/400 formed a totally national stock sourcing environment

1997
The introduction of Power Transmission products into the CBC product range to complement the strong bearing brands.

1999
Another expansion was needed and the Kingsgrove warehouse was extended from 6,000m2 to 10,000m2, to house the 45,000 lines of stock. This expansion would allow CBC to store up to 3,000,000 components.

2007
Following in the foot steps of their father, Mitchel and Karl Martin-Weber become directors of CBC. Norm Luff retires and Brett Bartholomew takes over as Managing Director.

Victoria’s Head Office moves from Maidstone to Sunshine, and the Kingsgrove Headquarters embarks on a number of major renovations, including a first floor management and administration office, and an additional 900m2 of warehouse space.

The NSW Head Office was relocated from Eastern Creek to Kingsgrove after the renovations were complete.

2009
Two new purpose built office in Queensland (Townsville and Mackay) where opened, and CBC Kewdale was opened combining Midland and Welshpool into a SuperBranch.

The Rothe Erde®, NTN and Power Transmission Division offices where renovated at the Kingsgrove Headquarters.

2010
George Khoury was appointed as Managing Director and under George’s leadership CBC acquired Motion Industries from Westfarmers.

2013
Richard Jenman is appointed a Managing Director

2014
Under Richard Jenman’s guidance the CBC brand is relaunched in to the Australia market place, as Bearing Dynamics is acquired.
